INTERVIEW : DAVID DELPORT / REN SKINCARE

Geçtiğimiz Kasım ayında aldığım özel bir davet ile REN‘i keşfetmek için Bebek’e doğru yola çıkmıştım. Bu konulara en az herkes kadar meraklıyım ve cilt bakımı ve güzellik konularında keşifler yapmak gerçekten beni çok mutlu ediyor!

REN, Londra menşeili bir marka. Markayı üç kelime ile özetlediklerinde ise şöyle diyorlar; etkinlik, temizlik ve memnuniyet. Tam tahmin ettiğim gibi bu marka cildinize son derece saygılı ve cildinizi olması gerekenin en iyisine taşımayı hedefleyen onunla dost bir marka.

Bebek Happily Ever After’daki buluşmamızda REN Türkiye Marka Yöneticisi Nilüfer Yıldırım ve Uluslararası Marka Elçilerinden David Delport ile tanıştım. Onlardan markayı dinlediğimde ve ürünleri denediğimde ise gerçekten çok keyif aldım ve sizlerle paylaşmak için de David ile bahar aylarına girdiğimiz şu günlerde kısa ve keyifli bir söyleşi gerçekleştirdik. Umarım bu kısa soru – cevapta siz de kendiniz için faydalı bilgiler edinebilirsiniz. 

Sevgili David, oldukça ışıltılı ve çok sağlıklı görünen bir cildin var. Bunu REN’in mucizesine bağlıyorum. REN’in filozofisi nedir, REN’e göre “mükemmel cilt” nasıl tanımlanır? 

Bizim filozofimiz gayet basit; amacımız etkin, saf bir formüle sahip ve keyifli kullanılan bir cilt bakım markası yaratmak. “Mükemmel cilt” yaşınıza göre en sağlıklı cilde sahip olmanız demek ve sağlıklı bir cilt için de yapmanız gereken üç şey var. Bunlardan ilki, cilde ihtiyacı olan enerjiyi sağlamak, ikincisi toksinlerden ve cildin doğal olarak ürettiği fazlalıklardan kurtulmak, üçüncüsü ise cildin hücre duvarını güçlü tutmak. Bu kulağa basit gelen ancak bir o kadar da etkili olan REN felsefesi. Asıl akıllı olan cildin kendisi, biz onu sadece koruyoruz, sağlıklı kalmasını sağlıyoruz ve doğal sürecin işlemesini serbest bırakıyoruz. Bahar geldi, artık Nisan ayındayız. Cildimizi bahara hazırlamamız için bize birkaç faydalı ipucu verebilir misin?

Bahara girerken cildime canlılık vermek adına bir yenilenme kürü uygulamayı seviyorum. Özellikle kış mevsimi ile yüz solgun ve grimsi bir renk alır, işte bundan kurtulmak için cildi ölü derilerinden arındırmak gerekir. Bunun için REN’in AHA Concentrate’ini önerebilirim. Dörtlü meyve asidi içeren, ölü derilerden arındıran, gece uygulanan harika bir ürün. Bir- iki gün içinde cildinizde gözde görülür bir farklılık yaratır. Işıldayan bir cilt için AHA Concentrate’in yanı sıra cilde vitamin ve enerji takviyesi yapmalısınız. Bunun için de size Radiance Renewal Serum’u önerebilirim. Bu ürün meyve şekeri ve mineraller içeren, hücrelerinizi yenileyecek harika bir ürün. Sonuç; içten sağlıkla ışıldayan harika bir cilt!

Özellikle benim gibi çalışan hanımlar malesef bütün gün makyajlı gezmek durumundalar. Cildimizi dengede tutmak ve makyajın zararlı etkilerini en aza indirgemek için ne yapmamızı önerirsin?

İşin sırrı “iki kat temizlikte”. En öncelikli şey cildinizdeki makyajı iyice temizlemek çünkü bu cildinizi bir sonraki adım için hazırlar. Toksinleri ve gözenekleri tıkayan makyaj kalıntılarını cildinizden atarsınız. Ben ciltteki makyajı temizlemek için yağ bazlı, zengin bir ürün tercih ediyorum. Önerebileceğim ürün, defilelerde ve showlarda da kullandığım, No1 Purity Cleansing Balm. Modeller de buna bayılıyorlar, çünkü ciltteki tüm makyaj kalıntılarını temizleyerek geriye rahatlamış ve tertemiz bir yüz bırakıyor. Temizliğin ikinci adımı ise cildinize uygun olan temizleyici ile ikinci kat temizliği yapmak. Burada önemli olan cilt tipiniz. Eğer cildiniz biraz yağlıysa jel ya da köpük türü ürünleri tercih etmelisiniz. Eğer cildiniz kuruysa krem bazlı temizleyicileri tercih edebilirsiniz.

Unutmayın, ilk kat temizlik cildinizdeki makyajı ve makyaj kalıntılarını temizliyor, ikinci kat temizlik ise adeta tedavi görevini görüyor.

En sık duyduğum problemlerden biri mat cilt problemi ya da yağlı T bölgesi sorunu. Bu problemlere sahip olan okuyucularım için nasıl bir çözüm önerirsin?

Buradaki temel problem yağ. Aslında yağ bir düşman değil ancak az ya da fazla olması bir dengesizlik yaratıyor. Eğer cildiniz kuruysa pul pul görünür ve çok da yumuşak değildir. Bu durumda harika bir parlaklık ve aynı zamanda koruma sağlayan Rose O¹² Moisture Defence Oil’i öneririm. Makyaj artistleri de bu ürünü çok tercih ediyor çünkü özellikle fondotenin altına baz olarak kullanıldığında cildinizde bir anda taze ve parlak bir görünüm sağlıyor. 

Cildinizde yağ fazlalığı varsa Clari-Matte Range’i öneririm. Bu ürün yağ fazlasını engelleyen doğal bitki özleri içeriyor ve yağsız bir T bölgesi ile cilt çok daha dengeli bir görünüme kavuşuyor. 

Bana göre REN’in yıldız ürünü kesinlikle Glycolactic Radiance Renewal Mask. Bunun gibi başla kült ürünleriniz var mı?

Ben de bu ürüne bayılıyorum! Bunun gibi bir başka çok ilgi gören ürünümüz de ilk defa 8 yıldan daha uzun süre önce kullandığım Omega 3 Optimum Skin Serum Oil. Last November my mailbox received a special invitation which was welcoming me to discover the world of REN Skincare. So I met the Brand Manager, Nilufer Yildirim and International Brand Ambassador, David Delport at Bebek Happily Ever After and my REN journey started. 

REN is a London based company and their philoshophy is summed up in three words “Performance, Purity and Pleasure”. 

The more I got to know and experimented the products, the more I fell in love with the brand. With this initiation, I thought an interview with David would be beneficial for my readers as well, so here are some quick questions and answers. Hope you will enjoy!

Dear David, I can see that you have a perfectly glowing and healthy skin! I am sure this is REN’s magic. What is the philosophy of REN? How does REN define “the perfect skin”?

Our
philosophy is simple, to create a skincare brand that is Performance
driven, Pure in formula and that is a Pleasure to use. Perfect skin is having the healthiest skin you can have for your age, and to create healthy skin you need to do three
things, the first is to supply the skin with energy, the second is to
remove toxins and natural wastes, and the third is to keep the cell
walls of the skin strong. It’s a simple yet effective philosophy that is
unique to our brand. The skin is intelligent – all we are doing is
protecting it, keeping it healthy and letting it do what it should be
doing naturally. This is why REN Skincare products work, because we
always respect the integrity of the skin first!

It is now April and Spring has sprung! Can you kindly give us some useful tips for us to prepare our skins for a blossoming new season? 

I love to do a renewal program to boost my skin. I feel after winter that skin needs
some extra exfoliation as its often congested and can look a little grey. I love our AHA Concentrate for this. It’s a combination of four fruit acids that you apply at night which speeds up exfoliation and resurfaces dull textured skin – you’ll see a difference in just a day or two!
Apart from the AHA Concentrate you can supplement your routine with added vitamins and energy to boost the skin’s natural radiance. The Radiance Renewal Serum uses natural energy factors from fruit sugars and minerals to add ‘fuel’ to the batteries of your cells. Your skin will glow with health from the inside.

You know, working people like me unfortunately have to wear make-up all day. What would you recommend for us to keep our skin in balance and minimize the effects of make up?
For me the secret is the double cleanse. A good cleanse is the most important thing you can do because it prepares the skin for your next products and also removes toxins and makeup that leave skin congested and dull looking. To remove makeup I like something quite rich and oil based like the No1 Purity Cleansing Balm, I’ve used this backstage at shows and models love it because it takes everything off and leaves skin super soft and comfortable. The second cleanse should be with the cleanser that is appropriate for your skin type. For example, if you are slightly oilier then use a gel or foam, if you are dryer then use milk or just stick with the balm! Remember, the first cleanse removes makeup and pollution, the second cleanse is your treatment!

The most common problem I hear is about having a matte skin or having an oily T- area. To the ones who have one of these problems, what would your recommendation be?

So the issue here is oil, either lack of, or too much. Oil is not the enemy, but too much or too little can leave the skin looking unbalanced. If you are dry on the surface and the skin looks flaky and not smooth then I would recommend the gorgeous Rose O¹² Moisture Defence Oil which adds instant glow and protection to dry delicate skin. Makeup artist love this product as it gives the skin an instant dewy, glowing finish, especially when used under foundation. For skin that has too much oil I recommend the Clari-Matte Range. This range uses natural plant molecules to control the release and production of excess oil so that with time the skin looks balanced and fresh without that heavy T-Zone Shine.

To me, REN’s Glycolactic Radiance Renewal Mask is a real star. Is there any other “cult” products?

I love this product too! The other product that we get a lot of press about is the Omega 3 Optimum Skin Serum Oil which was the first product I used from REN more than 8 years ago now. I’ve used it every day since, and I really do believe it’s what’s kept my skin in such good health. Our Moroccan Rose Body Range is still used and loved by celebrities like Kate Moss, Uma Thurman and Nicole Kidman and Kim Cattrall. What I love about REN is that even after almost 15 years in the industry it’s still regarded as a cool, cult-following British brand, and we’ve proudly maintained our identity and same philosophy throughout.
